In the Rose Bowl, Oregon and Wisconsin combined to score 83 points. Another 79 points were scored in the Fiesta Bowl with Stanford and Oklahoma State. And of course, the Alamo Bowl set records with their 123-point outburst.
So the general perception is that scoring is out of hand. Well, it is certainly up. The 55.6 points per game scored so far this year is up more than three points (5.9%) from last year and is up more than five points (10.5%) since 2008-09.
But the average points per game still below where scoring was in 2005-06 (56.6) and 2007-08 (57.7), the highest scoring post-season in the last 10 years.
