Charlie Sheen is done on Two and a Half Men.
“After careful consideration, Warner Bros. Television has terminated Charlie Sheen’s services on Two and a Half Men, effective immediately,” the studio said in a statement.
No decision has been made as to whether the show will return. In February, CBS canceled the final eight episodes of season eight.
Warner Bros. didn’t explain the timing of the announcement, but the news comes after a RadarOnline report revealed that CBS and WB were considering replacing Sheen nemesis Chuck Lorre with contributing producer Don Reo in a move that would pave the way for the actor’s return.
Additionally, Anna Holmes‘ widely-read op-ed in The New York Times drew attention to Sheen’s troubled past with domestic abuse.
