There's a big gap between what CFOs think employees want and what they actually want

In an increasingly competitive talent market, nonmonetary benefits can make all the difference.

According to a new survey by specialised staffing firm Robert Half, 40% of CFOs are more open to negotiating these perks to recruit and retain top workers than they were a year ago.

And employees at those same companies say they believe perks are being discussed more regularly.

But what CFOs believe employees want and what employees actually want can be quite different.

For instance, CFOs underestimate the value employees place on having more vacation days, telecommuting options, and flexible schedules. Meanwhile, they overestimate employees’ desire for better health and wellness benefits.
