The start of October brings cooler temperatures, falling leaves and Halloween plans and for some celebrities, it also brings a few real estate price chops.

Avril Lavigne's house

Current price: $8,999,999
Previous price: $9,500,000
Price cut: $500,001

Even mansions in the prestigious Bel-Air Crest neighbourhood have a hard time selling. Singer Avril Lavigne first listed her home, pictured below, on the Bel-Air real estate market in mid-May for almost $10 million.

Lavigne and her former hubby, Sum 41 singer Deryck Jason Whibley, picked up the gated and private estate in 2007 for $9.5 million. The 12,184-square-foot home has 8 bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms. High-end features include Venetian plaster, gourmet kitchen, private gym, wine cellar and tasting room.

Kirstie Alley's home

Current price: $1,990,000
Previous price: $2,350,000
Price cut: $360,000

Kirstie Alley's Maine home, pictured below, may not appeal to everyone. Outfitted in floral chintz prints, pinks, mint green and baby blue, her home may appeal as a place for English tea time, rather than a Maine getaway.

Outside of its super feminine decor, the Isleboro home for sale has extensive oceanfront views, an updated kitchen and master suite.

Wayne Brady's home

Current price: $1,999,999
Previous price: $2,199,000
Price cut: $199,001

Even a one-of-a-kind treehouse couldn't save comedian and game-show host Wayne Brady's house from the price chopping block. Although the original asking price was lower than the $2.5 million Brady paid in 2005 for the home, mirroring the 5 per cent drop year-over-year in median Sherman Oaks home values, the price apparently wasn't low enough.

Besides the unusual treehouse, Brady's home includes floor-to-ceiling windows, custom lighting and a home

LaDainian Tomlinson's house

Current price: $4,900,000
Previous price: $5,210,000
Price cut: $310,000

This resort-like pad was L.T's hangout during his years as a running back for the San Diego Chargers. Although he was traded to the New York Jets in 2010, his home didn't hit the Poway real estate market until nearly a year later.

The property consists of two parcels a little over 13 acres, and at 9,565 square feet, L.T's home takes up quite a bit of the estate. The home, pictured below, includes a enormous pool and spa, home theatre, outside cabana and full-size basketball and tennis court.
