Phil Mickelson may have taken home the Green Jacket, but he wasn’t the only one to win big at The Masters this weekend.Tiger Woods’ highly anticipated return to golf, Phil Mickelson’s stellar performance, and even Fred Couples helped the network get its highest final round Masters ratings in nine years.
According to Variety, the tournament drew a 12.0 rating and and a 25 share on CBS. Sunday viewership was up 36% from last year, when lesser-known Angel Cabrera won.
Droves of viewers watched online as well. 1.3MM unique viewers turned into CBSSports.com to watch the 2010 Masters, which is more than double the number of online viewers in 2009.
These viewers also streamed 90% more video than last year, watching 1.37MM hours of the Tournament online.
But despite the high draw, this year’s golf coverage couldn’t match the 1997 tournament — the year Tiger Woods won his first Masters.
