"If you think Trump leads our party, you own his comments or you must denounce them," Kinzinger said to his colleagues. "The time for hiding is over."
Kinzinger said he wanted to see "actual Republican values" in a GOP majority, adding that the GOP must "turn away from conspiracy."
"This was entirely forseen," Kinzinger, who served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Air Force, told MSNBC of Thursday's attacks.
"If I lose my district, we'll take a look then," the Republican lawmaker told Politico. "But I'm not too freaked out."

Lawmakers who previously served in the Middle East called on Biden to better aid the evacuation effort of Afghans after the fall of Kabul.
"I think the bigger thing is just what is the message that's going to come out this, is that the American people deserve the truth," Kinzinger said.
Kinzinger, a Republican outspoken against Trump, also said "a lot" of his GOP colleagues had privately praised his work on the Jan. 6 commission.

Kinzinger criticized his fellow Republicans over their "toxic" efforts to downplay the insurrection and dismiss the probe as a partisan sham.
According to CNN, several members want GOP leadership to force a vote removing Reps. Cheney and Kinzinger from their other committee assignments.
"I will work diligently to ensure we get to the truth and hold those responsible for the attack fully accountable," Kinzinger said in a statement.
Kinzinger was reacting to Ted Cruz and Marjorie Taylor Greene's response to President Joe Biden offering the COVID-19 vaccines door-to-door.
Kinzinger explicitly called out GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado over a tweet she sent ahead of the fatal riot at the Capitol.
