Everyone has heard of King Louis XIV’s Versailles castle in France, but there’s no need to cross the Atlantic to live like the king. Just head south, to Versailles, Kentucky, where this amazing castle is on the market for $30 million. The castle was built by two Americans, Rex and Caroline Martin, who fell in love with Europe’s medieval architecture during a trip in the sixties.

While the fortress was still under construction in 1975, the Martin’s divorced and the castle sat vacant until 2003 when it was purchased for $1.8 million and turned into a bed and breakfast.

Now, just three years later it’s on the market for $28 million more than the purchase price.

It wouldn't be a castle with out stone walls guarding it

The castle is on 50 acres of property

And it has 50 rooms throughout

Including a dining room that seats 40

Here's the grand entrance way

The view when you walk in the door

Yet another dining room

Huge driveway... for a horse and carriage?

Talk about privacy

Even the landscaping resembles that of a European castle
