Four trucks and four cars have collided at Eastern Creek on the M7 at around 12.30pm, forcing the closure of the M7, a major arterial road in Sydney’s west.
Police told the media the scene was “absolute carnage”.
NSW Ambulance sent seven units to the scene, with officers were assessing six people, two with significant injuries, and four with minor injuries.
It took an hour for emergency services personnel an hour to release one truck driver stuck in his cabin with serious leg and arm injuries. A women in her 20s has serious facial and abdominal injuries.

A Careflight helicopter also had to be flown in to help.

Traffic is extremely heavy for 3km in each direction. The southbound lane has been closed for about 3.5km between Old Wallgrove Road and The Horsely Drive, and drivers are being encouraged to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
