The midnight blue gown Princess Diana wore to a state dinner hosted by Ronald Reagan, at which she famously danced with John Travolta and Clint Eastwood, goes up for auction next week.The iconic navy dress, which will be sold along with 13 other gowns owned by Princess Di, is expected to fetch as much as $1 million dollars.
Other highlights of the sale include an Indian-inspired lilac dress Diana wore during a state tour of India in 1992, which is expected to sell for as much as $425,000, and a cream-coloured gown she wore during a 1997 photo shoot for Vanity Fair, which could go for up to $300,000.
The sale, scheduled for June 23, is run by Canadian auction house Waddington’s and will be held online at www.ArtFact.com.
The collection was originally purchased by a Tampa businesswoman in 1997, just eight weeks before Diana’s death.
