This footage of protests marking yesterday’s 30th anniversary of the Falklands War shows clearly just how angry a segment of Argentinian society is still over the conflict.
Sky News reports that several hundred members of the extremist Quebracho movement had tried to attack the UK embassy managed to break through a protective barrier to attack the embassy, throwing fire bombs at riot police who eventually quelled the protests with water cannons.
The group also set fire to a British flag and burnt an effigy of Prince William. The UK government has condemned the violence, but described the rioters as a “minority”, the Independent reports.
With this sort of violent emotion on show, you have to wonder whether the conflict between the two countries is likely to end anytime soon.
