Brisbane's bad weather has postponed the Anzac Test until Sunday

Weather sometimes changes the course of wars – think of Operation Barbarossa, when freezing temperatures helped defeat the Nazis as they attempted to take Moscow – and now it’s halted rugby league’s Anzac Test between Australia and New Zealand tonight as heavy rain and the severe flooding hammers Brisbane and leaves Lang Park partially under water.

The postponement of the much-anticipated trans-Tasman battle was announced just after the Kangaroos tweeted that the match was still going on.

The test has now been moved to Sunday at 4pm.

The Kangaroos already have a plan B that suggests they’d like summer to return.

One disappointed fan of retired player Reece “Slippery” Simmonds could at least laugh about it.
