North Korea launched an unidentified projectile off its east coast into the sea on Tuesday.
A Reuters report, citing Japanese broadcaster NHK, says that the Japan Defense Ministry expects it could land in Japan’s exclusive economic zone.
No damage to ships or aircraft in the area has been reported.
South Korean president Moon Jae-in has ordered a meeting of the National Security Council in response to the launch.
Tuesday’s launch is the first by the North since a June 8.
