Brad Pitt Is Now Designing A Furniture Collection

As if being the new face of Chanel No. 5, father of six, fiancé of Angelina Jolie, and a world-famous actor wasn’t enough, Brad Pitt is now designing furniture with Frank Pollaro of Pollaro Custom Furniture.

In an interview with Architectural Digest in the magazine’s December 2012 issue, the actor says he has been “doodling” building and furniture concept designs since the early 1990s. Pitt credits his interest in furniture design with discovering Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright in college at the University of Missouri.

The collection will feature about a dozen pieces, including tables, chairs, and a bed.

The impetus behind the project came when Pollaro visited the actor’s home a few years ago to deliver a desk Pitt had commissioned. It was there that he saw one of Pitt’s old sketches. “I asked him, ‘Why don’t we make some of this stuff real?'” Pollaro told Architectural Digest. “Brad said he thought that could be fun.”

Pitt is no stranger to architecture as evidenced by his Make It Right foundation that brings affordable housing to post-Katrina New Orleans. He also recently expanded his nonprofit to partner with LivingHome to create LEED certified green homes across the United States.

But whether or not this is a career path the actor will be pursuing over his day job, the answer remains up in the air. When asked if he will be collaborating on future furniture projects, Pitt told Architectural Digest, “Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”

The full collection is set to debut November 13 through 15 in New York City. So far, the Pitt-Pollaro website only features a homepage with the promise that it’s “Coming Soon,” but the website is set to launch by November 11.
