Boris Johnson has won the London election to return to his second term as Mayor.Johnson, a Tory, won despite overall a weak performance from David Cameron’s Conservatives.
Including second choice votes (as there was no absolute majority), Johnson had 1.04 million votes, more than his nearest rival Ken Livingston who had 992,000 votes.
As we said earlier, Johnson is someone to watch in UK politics, not only because of his ridiculous demeanor but also because it really seems like he is on course for 10 Downing Street.
As Andrew Sullivan — an old schoolfriend — describes it “he appears to have pulled it off with the key element for a truly successful politician: pure charm and disarming honesty”.
