Marching in New York City’s Columbus Day Parade, Mayor Michael Bloomberg told the Wall Street Journal that the Occupy Wall Street protests could continue indefinitely, if the demonstrators obeyed the law.”The bottom line is – people want to express themselves. And as long as they obey the laws, we’ll allow them to,” he said. “If they break the laws, then, we’re going to do what we’re supposed to do: enforce the laws.”
In his weekly radio show last week, Bloomberg was critical of the protesters’ message, accusing them of “trying to destroy the jobs of working people.”
The protesters are benefiting from unusually warm-weather — though rains are predicted for New York City later this week.
