Another day, another surge in value for the world’s biggest cryptocurrency.

Prices have rocketed to a record high this afternoon, as the Cboe exchange prepares to launch Bitcoin futures on Monday.

Here’s the five-minute price action on the Kraken exchange, via investing.com:

John Spallanzani, chief macro strategist at CFI Group, told Business Insider trading activity in Asia was the catalyst for the new milestone.

“Bitcoin continues to have a strong bid during Asia trading as emerging market currencies are being sold to buy, pushing us above another milestone,” Spallanzani said in a Twitter direct message.

And in the wake of the latest price increases, Didi Taihuttu — the Dutch national who sold everything to buy Bitcoin — is feeling pretty good about his decision.

Price moves have been less pronounced among the other major cryptocurrencies, although IOTA coin continues to push higher in afternoon trade — it’s now up by around 250% over the past week.
