Here we go, again.America’s self-proclaimed toughest sheriff is now on the case of the missing birth certificate.
In a press conference Thursday, Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, who gained fame for his support of Arizona’s controversial immigration law, said that he has come across evidence that President Obama’s birth certificate was manufactured.
The evidence was the result of a six-month investigation Arpaio led with his volunteer-based Cold Case Posse.
According to Mike Zullo, the posse’s lead investigator, the organisation has identified at least one person of interest and has evidence that the birth certificate Obama uploaded online was digitally created.
This was a theory floated around within moments after Obama released his birth certificate.
“Mr. President, please come up with some information about where you were born, and everyone will go away, and I will say I’m sorry,” Arpaio said.
Arpaio is currently in the middle of a tough reelection bid and some have speculated that the announcement was a ploy to garner attention. The sheriff has been the subject of recent controversy because of a federal grand jury probe investigating accusations of abuses in power as well as racial profiling.
But Arpaio attested that the investigation was not a political issue.
“I want truth, I don’t care where it falls,” he said.
Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt had some fun with Arpaio’s conference tweeting this:
