Fox News host Bill O’Reilly slammed former Vice President Al Gore’s “sleazy and disgraceful” sale of Current TV to “anti-American” network Al Jazeera, calling Gore a “hypocrite” for a reported desire to sell the network before higher tax rates kicked in on Jan. 1.
“When you think about it, this is really stunning,” O’Reilly said Thursday night on “The O’Reilly Factor.”
“A former vice president selling his far-left cable operation to anti-Americans — then trying to jam the deal to avoid higher taxes to the federal government.”
The New York Times’ Brian Stelter reported that Gore wanted to complete the $500 million sale before higher capital gains taxes kicked in on Jan. 1. O’Reilly called Gore a “hypocrite,” after he said in a November interview that people “like me should pay our fair share.”
O’Reilly also called Al Jazeera “anti-American,” citing a documentary entitled “I Knew Bin Laden.”
“This is just sleazy, Al,” O’Reilly said. “This is disgraceful.”
