Former President Bill Clinton is back in the spotlight. After taking the passenger seat to his wife Hillary’s presidential campaign and diplomatic leadership, Clinton will return to centre stage at this year’s Democratic National Convention to officially nominate President Barack Obama for his reelection in an opening night primetime speech.

Twelve years after leaving the Oval Office, Clinton has become one of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party. His approval rating is now 66 per cent — the highest since he entered office in 1993 — and convention organisers likely hope he will reprise his role as the party’s best everyman cheerleader-in-chief.

In honour of Clinton’s triumphant return to the national spotlight, we dug up some pictures that got us pretty excited about Bubba’s comeback. Even if you’re not a fan, these photos are a great reminder of how weird the 90s were.
