I was told it costs $70,000 a day just to have this derrick sit on the platform. The wells are so new and the oil workers so busy that there is no security and no place to check into a site like this.
At the entrance point, coloured flags announce what gases are present and whether or not they’re poisonous. When I was there the flag was yellow and poison gas may have been present.
Workers covered in oil walked in and out of the platform and nearby was the well flare. Notice the containers to the left setup to hold the fresh Bakken crude.
Look for more pictures and stories when I get back to BI tomorrow.
