Betty White just keeps getting busier — and now she’s going to be the mistress of mischief at NBC.
The network just greenlit “Off Their Rockers,” a hidden-camera gag show in the vein of “Punk’d.”
The twist — “Rockers” is all about senior citizens pranking youngsters.
It’s an adaptation of a Belgian series that gets higher ratings than the evening news there and goes by a much cooler title than “Rockers”: “Benidorm Bastards.”
“Benidorm” refers to a town in Spain the show is named after. There’s a good reason why NBC didn’t opt to keep the original moniker — as Germany, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Israel, Australia and France did in their versions of the hugely successful series.
The mayor of Benidorm, Spain is reportedly suing the Belgian version producers — he wants his town out of the title.
Maybe Betty White can charm him into submission — everyone loves Betty White.
Or they will until her band of tricksters start running people down with their Rascals.
