In an upset, Maguy LeCoze and Eric Ripert’s Le Bernardin nabbed the title of “most popular restaurant,” squeezing out restaurateur extraordinaire Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Tavern and Union Square Cafe, which had had a stronghold on the title for the past 15 years.
Le Bernardin also topped the Food rankings with a near-perfect 29 out of a possible 30 score for a second year in a row.
And the Time Warner centre hit it big, with residents Asiate and Per Se winning for Decor and Service, respectively.
Of course, the food makes the restaurant. We’ve compiled the new best restaurants for food with some help from Zagat’s Buzz blog.
This list was compiled from the results of the 2012 Zagat New York City Restaurants Survey, which rated 2,111 restaurants reviewed by 41,604 respondents. Zagat ranks restaurants on a 30-point scale based on food, decór, and service. Ratings of 26 to 30 are considered “extraordinary to perfection,” according to the company.
