The wait is over. Last week Samsung took the wraps off the new Galaxy S10 and damn that’s a fine looking phone. An all-screen display on the front, and a whopping three cameras on the back. Finally, a Galaxy that’s worth getting excited about.
Pre-orders are open now ahead of a March 8 release and Samsung is throwing in a free set of wireless Galaxy Buds worth $249. And as if that weren’t enough, Australia’s telcos are already competing to see who can come up with the most unreal plans.
Here’s the best of the best.
Best plan for speed
If you want the fastest possible service, this Galaxy S10+ lease from Telstra is an excellent choice. Not only will it net you access to Telstra’s super-fast 4GX network, but you’ll have the option to trade your S10+ in for a Galaxy S10 5G device later in the year, once they become available.
That means you’ll get to be one of the first Australians to experience the next-level speed of 5G connectivity, which is pretty exciting. This option is available exclusively to Telstra customers on S10+ plans and leases. You’ll just need to do the trade-in within 21 days of the S10 5G launch, and make sure your S10+ is in good working order.
Best plan for data
If you need a lot of data, you’ll find it hard to go past this 50GB Galaxy S10 lease from Optus. As well as a tonne of included data, you get data-free streaming of Netflix, Stan and ABC iView. And for an extra $5 per month you can add data-free streaming of Netflix, Stan and ABC iView.
It’s not unlimited data, but it may as well be.
This plan is a lease which means you won’t own your phone at the end of the 24-month contract. But after 12 months you’ll have the option to upgrade to the next latest and greatest phone for a $99 fee.
Best value for money plan
It may seem strange to pick up your next high-end piece of tech from the supermarket, but Woolworths Mobile plans offer seriously good value. As well as great data inclusions for decent prices, Woolworths Mobile plans will get you access to the Telstra network – without making you pay Telstra prices.
If you order your S10 from Woolworths Mobile by 28 February, the telco will take $250 off the value of the phone over 24 months. Nice.
Best plan for everything plus the kitchen sink
No phone plan around will get you more awesome inclusions than this one.
For $199 per month you get unlimited talk, unlimited text, unlimited data, and unlimited international calls to any country, and 10GB per month for use in eligible countries
On this plan, you can choose any phone at no extra cost, so go ahead and order yourself the Galaxy S10+ 512GB model to go with it. You may as well.
If you pick up this plan you’ll also be eligible to trade your S10+ in for an S10 5G later in the year, once it becomes available.
