The New York Daily News has just released a list of the best neighborhoods in New York City for retirees and Murray Hill—a part of town better known for its abundance of recent college grads and fratty bars—topped the charts. The paper, which picked neighborhoods based on crime rates, variety of housing, and proximity to culture, health centres and public transportation, concluded that the Hill’s “dormitory” reputation did not preclude it from being a great spot for retirees.
And given the area’s relatively low real estate prices, wealth of shops and restaurants, and proximity to lots of libraries and medical centres, we have to agree, as long as the retirees don’t mind the roving hordes of drunk 22-year-olds.
Thinking of spending your golden years in Murray Hill? Might want to check out this video first.
