Drinks International, a trade rag for the spirits, wine and beer industries, has just come out with its annual list of the 50 best bars in the world (via Eater).According to the publication, which polled 100 bar professionals around the world, including the lead bartender from the Playboy Club, Esquire drink expert David Wondrich, and a “diamond ice-carver,” the best bar in the world is East Village speakeasy PDT.
PDT is probably best known for its secret entrance–through the old-fashioned telephone booth in Crif Dogs, a hot dog joint. It’s got an extensive list of well-crafted cocktails, a sexy ambiance and a direct window to the hot dog kitchen next door–what more could you want in a bar?
PDT is also nothing new on the New York nightlife scene, making it a surprising contender for this title.
New York and London pretty much dominate the top 10.
1. PDT, New York
2 Connaught, London
3 Artesian, London
4 Death & Co, New York
5 Milk & Honey, London
6 American Bar at the Savoy, London
7 69 Colebrooke Row, London
8 Drink, Boston US
9 Harry’s New York Bar, Paris
10 Black Pearl, Melbourne, Australia
