Belarus Arrests Hundreds Of Protestors

Hundreds have been arrested in protests against authoritarian leader President Alexander Lukashenko today in Belarus, reports the BBC.The country is currently in a balance of payments crisis, with the Belorussian Rouble falling 36%.

Protestors had been taking part in “silent” protests, organised on social networks according to the AFP.

Radio Free Europe reports that 400 may have been arrested, while there are reports that an AP reporter has seen groups of men in plain clothes beating protestors.
