Better holidays you can buy for $700,000 than a shed on a chilly beach in Victoria

This Victorian beach box looks like it’s about to become Australia’s most expensive shed:

No.1 Boat Shed on Portsea Front Beach is up for sale with an expected sale price of $700,000, and is heading for a new record price for the resort town.

It’s Portsea, on the south coast of Victoria. Only chilly Tasmania is further south.

If you want a clue as to what kind of a beach break your $700K room will buy you, check the flag in the listing video:

Which is not to say it’s not a great investment. It absolutely is, because it was bought 25 years ago for $25,000. There’s only about 50 boatsheds on nearby Shelley Beach, and no more will built.

Last year, Box 23 went for $615,000, well above the $350,000 expected by its former owners.

But as a holiday home – it’s not even that because it’s for day use only, you can’t have a sleepover there, you can’t even put in a toilet and there there’s no power or running water – so you’ve got to spend another couple of million dollars on somewhere to stay.

So does it give you bang for your $700,000 bucks? No. No it doesn’t. Spend it on these instead.
