In honour of the passing of beloved children’s author Maurice Sendak, we’ve pulled up this video of President Barack Obama reading “Where The Wild Things Are” at this year’s White House Easter Egg Roll.
“This is one of the all-time classics, I love this book,” Obama says, introducing Sendak’s masterpiece.
He then asks the kids for a show of hands to see who has read the book before, and says he expects them to chime in with their best “wild thing roar.”
It’s pretty cute — and a big improvement from the President’s 2009 Where The Wild Things Are reading, which lacked the theatrics that all of Sendak’s work deserves.
