Australian stocks have enjoyed a great start to the new financial year. The benchmark ASX 200 rose 1.04% on the back of gains in the financial and energy sectors.

That year the index enjoyed a gain of 7.91%. Given uncertainties facing stocks at present, many investors would take that for the year ahead.
