Australian premium food delivery service, Suppertime, has been acquired by German takeaway platform Delivery Hero.

Suppertime was acquired earlier this year by a subsidiary of Rocket Internet called Foodora. Rocket Internet made a massive push into the food sector earlier this year, which included taking a stake in Delivery Hero.

Foodora and Delivery Hero have now merged.

Suppertime will continue to operate as an independent brand, and has recently expanded to Melbourne.

The new company plans to leverage its economies of scale to push into more markets within Australia.

“Suppertime is currently experiencing a serious growth spurt,” said Suppertime managing director Toon Gyssells. “In the last two months alone we’ve grown our orders and restaurants by 250% and 400% respectively.

“We’re looking forward to leveraging the Delivery Hero partnership to advance our reach as we continue to revolutionise the way people think of delivery.”
