The Australian man who died after falling from a 30 metre-high wall in Portugal has been named

An Australian man has died after falling from a 30 metre-high wall in Portugal.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Michael Kearns from Perth, 33, and his British partner Louise Benson were found dead at the foot of the wall by a council worker who was cleaning Pescadores Beach in Ericeria, about 45 minutes north-west of Lisbon, early Tuesday morning local time.

According PerthNow, Kearns was a mining fly-in-fly-out worker, and Benson worked for Sea Shepherd in Perth.

Kearns’ mother told PerthNow the couple left Australia in January to travel, and were in Portugal for a friend’s wedding in recent weeks.

It is believed that the pair fell off the wall between 1am and 6am local time.

Emergency workers found the phone still sitting on top of the wall.

The SMH that the bodies were transported to the National Legal Medicine Institute in Lisbon.
