More wealthy people want to travel to Australia than to any other place on the planet, according to the results of a new survey from upscale travel magazine Virtuoso. For the second year in a row, Australia beat out Italy, South Africa, New Zealand and exotic locales as the top “dream destination,” according to Virtuoso, which compiled results from some 14,000 readers.
The Greek Islands emerged as the number one island escape, particularly among women over 50 and singles under 50.
And a cruise around the world was selected as the #1 “trip of a lifetime.”
In terms of romantic getaways, the survey yielded no surprises; Paris was voted the most romantic city in the world, as well as the best in terms of style and design and dining.
60-two per cent of Virtuoso’s readers are between the ages of 35 and 65, and 46% have household incomes in excess of $150,000.
