The Australian dollar storms to a 5-week high

The Australian dollar continues to surge, hitting a five-week high in Asia.

After jumping back above the 76 cent level following the release of weak US CPI data on Wednesday, the AUD/USD has extended those gains on Thursday, propelled higher by a stellar Australian jobs report for November and solid economic data in China.

It currently sits at .7669, the highest level since mid-November.
