Australian businesses can now have a 'verified' Facebook page

Local businesses in Australia can now be included in Facebook’s verified pages program as the social network rolls out their authenticated grey badge Down Under.

Being “verified” shows customers that the page is an authentic representation of the business on Facebook and “lets people know they’re visiting that business’s official Facebook presence,” says Kirsten Bury, product marketing manager for Facebook Pages.

All businesses have to do to become verified is go into their settings, request to verify their page and be able to support the verification using their phone number or official documents.

Facebook will then review your information to confirm that it matches public records and send you a notification about your verification status within a few days.
