“Accidental damage” is a horrifying phrase for an iPhone owner.Even with an AppleCare protection plan, if you get a cracked screen, water damage, or anything besides a software problem, you have to pony up the cash for a brand new device.

AT&T is about to change the game, however.

Starting on July 17th, it will make a new insurance program available to its customers — for $5 a month and a $125 deductible, you can run your iPhone through the washing machine and use it to hammer nails until it breaks. Then you get a new one, no problem.

Pretty cool.
