An English Soccer Player Explodes At The Football Association For Suggesting He Lied About On-Field Racial Abuse

Chelsea left back Ashley Cole could face disciplinary action after blowing up at the English Football Association on Twitter this morning.A little backstory: Today the FA, English soccer’s governing body, released a bunch of documents about its investigation into an on-field racial incident last season.

The incident, where QPR player Anton Ferdinand accused Chelsea player John Terry of racially abusing him, led to a four-game ban for Terry and a $350,000 fine.

Cole was on the field when the alleged abuse occurred, and testified in favour of Terry at his trial.

In the documents, the FA says Terry’s defence against the accusations was “improbable, implausible and contrived,” and suggested that Cole changed his story over the course of a few months to protect his teammate.

Cole took exception to that assertion in a tweet he has since deleted:
