Apple has a huge event going on today.WWDC is the conference where it reveals new software features and teaches developers how to use them.

At its core, Apple is a software company. The software that powers Macs, iPhones, and iPads is what makes Apple better than Microsoft or Google.

But, for the normal people of the world, this day isn’t all that exciting really. The new software features won’t be available today. They’ll probably be ready in the fall.

Even if they were ready today, most normal people don’t care about incremental software upgrades.

What really gets normal consumers excited are shiny new toys. And those aren’t coming until September, says Brian White, an Apple analyst at Topeka Capital.

After travelling through Asia, he says Apple will be releasing a new iPhone and a mini-iPad at one event in September this year.

So, enjoy today, but expect the big Apple frenzy in a few months.
