Apple will likely offer a $99 AppleCare+ option for the iPad 3, reports MacRumors.Apple’s extended warranty plan has famously not covered accidental damage in the past, but this changed in October with the launch of the iPhone 4S — the company introduced AppleCare+ for iPhone, covering two incidents of accidental iPhone damage over a two-year period.
With the introduction of the iPad 3, it appears Apple will extend similar service to its tablet market. For a $99 fee, customers can be similarly covered for two incidents with a $49 deductible for each.
We’re not sure how useful accidental damage coverage will prove to be for an iPad — it’s not on the go with you as much as your phone. But we suspect plenty of people will find it agreeable and spring for the extra coverage.
