A funny thing has happened to Apple and its product rumour mill in the last few months. In the run up to Apple’s Worldwide Developer conference, the Apple television was something everyone was talking about.

The reports/leaks/speculation was that Apple was preparing to announce the television at the end of this year and release it at the start of next year. Or, announce and release early next year.

Whatever the time line, the Apple television was the number one future product everyone cared about.

Yet, since WWDC we can’t remember the last time an analyst mentioned the Apple television. We can’t remember the last leak in a news report.

Instead, the brand new product that doesn’t exist that has everyone in a tizzy is the iPad mini. (That and the new iPhone.)

What happened? Has Apple pushed back development of a television? Do we have limited attention spans that can only handle so many imaginary Apple products at once? Thoughts?
