Apple just announced Siri, a voice-recognition service for the iPhone.I fully expect it to suck. Don’t you?
I have never in my entire life interacted with a voice-recognition service and come away happy.
Voice recognition technology sucks right now.
My colleague Jay Yarow says that Siri will be great for when you’re in the car and you want to send a quick text message to your Paul: “I’m going to be late.”
My expectation is that Siri will end up sending a text to your friend Saul: “I’m great!”
But here’s the thing.
Way back in 2006, when Apple first introduced the iPhone, I was very disappointed that the whole thing was built around a touchscreen.
I fully expected it to suck. I had never in my entire life interacted with a touchscreen service and come away happy.
So maybe I’ll be wrong again.
