Apple: Here's Why We Didn't Call It The iPad HD, Or iPad 3

Surprisingly, the new iPad is named, “iPad,” not iPad 3 or iPad HD as many had predicted.

What gives? On Twitter, Fortune reporter Miguel Helft says he asked Apple’s SVP of marketing, Phil Schiller, why the company chose the simple name.

According to Helft, Schiller said Apple did it because, “we don’t like to be predictable.”

Mystery (sort-of) solved.
