Apple is allegedly revising the iPad to include a different backlight, claims controversial electronics news site DigiTimes. The iPad currently uses two LEDs to illuminate the display. The revision would get rid of one of the backlights.

This is supposedly in order to reduce the heat output of the device and guard against overheating, but not while compromising the “luminosity and clarity.”

DigiTimes has historically been fairly inaccurate with Apple rumours, so we’re taking this one with the biggest grain of salt possible.
