Last November a British family sold an antique Chinese vase for $68 million at auction. The anonymous buyer was rumoured to be a newly-rich antique collector from mainland China.Unfortunately the bid may have been a hoax. No money was transferred and the vase has not been collected.
Now experts suspect the bid originated from Beijing as a protest against the sale of historical treasures looted from China, according to The Sun.
Retired solictor Anthony Johnson, 54, and his mother Gene, 85, may auction the vase again.
