A couple of weeks ago, after Bill Maher made some jokes about Bristol Palin, Fox News’ resident psychiatrist, Dr. Keith Ablow, made a diagnosis: Maher is “hostile towards women.”
On tonight’s show, Maher read the evidence that Ablow, who Maher compared to Stalin, had laid out, including that Maher frequents the Playboy mansion, dates supermodels and has no children.
Guest Ann Coulter agreed with Ablow and labelled Maher a “misogynist,” a charge that made Maher defensive. He challenged her to “name one” thing he had said that would make her say that.
Coulter, instead of bringing up this example, could only think to go after Maher for things he had said about Michele Bachmann, to which Maher had a pretty good defence:
“Michele Bachmann happens to be a woman. I can’t talk about a woman if she’s nuts? She happens to be talking about a person who is nuts. It had nothing to do with her being a woman, did it? Really?”
He also pointed out, correctly, that he was also hard on George Bush, “a penis carrying man.”
As for Ablow, Maher still wasn’t done, noting that “for a psychiatrist, he has no sense of humour,” which, according to Maher, is the ultimate test of sanity.
He then challenged Ablow to come on Real Time and have a “sane-off.”
Here’s hoping that Ablow accepts the challenge, because that would be some amazing television!
