The Los Angeles Angeles of Anaheim plan to honour Derek Jeter when the Yankees come to town on September 9th.From the Los Angeles Times:
But in some form, the details of which are still being worked out, that series-opening game will present an opportunity to showcase Jeter.
“We are still finalising some things,” says Tim Mead, Angels vice president of communications. “It is fair to say we want to honour the man, the player and the person in some form.”
Since Jeter has no plans to retire after this season, it’s a bit of a curious decision by LAA.
To make matters worse, Jeter has dominated the Angels in his career.
He has a .332 batting average, a .408 on-base, and an .887 OPS against the team. All those numbers are significantly better than his career averages.
