Omaha Steaks started as a small custom butcher shop 95 years ago and today is America’s largest direct response food company, doing more than $450 million in sales annually.
A fifth-generation family business, the company has changed with the times. People are more health-conscious and wallet-conscious than they were several years ago, and in response the company has expanded its product offerings to include leaner and less expensive cuts.
For a century-old company, it’s also pretty tech-savvy: it has a neat iPhone app that gives advice for grilling meat, and recently launched a Facebook store with new products and exclusive deals.
Fifth-generation family owner and SVP Todd Simon recently stopped by our office to talk about how Omaha Steaks‘ products travel from Nebraska to your door and the latest trends in beef.
