An American Airlines flight attendant disrupted and delayed a flight before takeoff from Dallas/Forth Worth International Airport this morning, according to the Dallas Morning News. Flight 2332 was scheduled to take off for its Chicago destination at 8:25 a.m. CST, but had to return to the gate due to the attendant’s outbursts. From The Dallas Morning News:
The flight attendant “came on the PA system ranting about AA bankruptcy and then telling them the plane was going to crash,” said the sister of one woman on the plane.
“She was addressing the captain, telling him not to take off, that it would not be her responsibility when the plane crashes and that it was going to crash. Then she was tackled by first-class passengers, who threw her against the wall.”
The flight has since taken off and landed in Chicago’s O’Hare airport 11:42 am CST, according to FlightView.
According to the Dallas Observer, some passengers heard people on the plane talking about the flight attendant being “off her meds.”
American Airlines has released a statement acknowledging an incident occurred abroad the plane, and that two flight attendants were taken to the local hospital for treatment.
As many may remember, American Airlines’ parent company AMR filed for bankruptcy last November with up to $24.7 billion in assets.
