Alaska Airlines' Flight Attendants Are Literally Sick From Their New Uniforms

When flight attendants score some new uniforms—or some new shoes—we are usually all excited about it.However, this is unfortunately not the case with Alaska Airlines and the new shirts, pants, and skirts they’ve been passing out to those who work the aisles high in the sky.

The new uniforms have been kicking around since 2011, but ever since their release there have ben some interesting comments regarding the level of comfort they provide.

Apparently flight attendants have been a little itchy, scratchy, and generally rash-y after receiving these new company issued clothes.

The Association of Flight Attendants, which represents plenty of the airline’s crewmembers, is now speaking out as well, as they’re thinking that these new threads are responsible for hair loss and other not too great allergic reactions.

There’s an estimate that one in 10 flight attendants have had these negative reactions, and it sounds like the true cause of the issue is still kind of a mystery. Some are thinking that it has to do with tributyl phosphate, but nothing’s been concluded quite yet.

The good news is that Alaska Airlines has finally recognised the problem, and they will offer two alternative uniforms.

We’re thinking that the new options will just be getting a new supplier, but we can always hope for yet another redesign. Poor flight attendants, like they don’t already have enough to worry about up in the air.
