A minute-long video showing a British and an Italian man who were kidnapped by Al Qaeda from Nigeria in May was sent to the AFP office in Abijan today, the AFP said.
The men were engineers for Italian construction company B. Stabilini in Nigeria, and were involved in the building of the Nigerian Central Bank.
On May 12, gunmen stormed their apartment and kidnapped them. A German colleague who also lived in the apartment was able to escape by scaling a fence.
The video is the first time they have been heard of since May.
In the video sent to the AFP, the men refer to Al-Qaeda as their kidnappers and ask for their governments to meet Al-Qaeda’s requests.
Names of the kidnapped have not been released for security reasons, and the British and Italian foreign offices refused to comment.
