Sean Parker and Sean Fanning launched their stealth video startup, Airtime, this morning.Airtime is a peer to peer video network that lets you chat with strangers who share your Facebook interests. The event was held at MILK Studios on 450 West 15th Street in Manhattan.
Despite the fact that the product only worked half the time due to technical issues, the launch was a star-studded, extravagant affair.
It included everything from Martha Stewart to spicy duck confit served in Chinese take-out boxes.
Here’s what you missed at the Airtime press bonanza.
The press room was full as hundreds of journalists waited for the event to start. We ran into CNN, AllThingsD, New York Times and The Verge, to name a few.
Fallon also asked what the first thing they bought after Napster was. Fanning recalled Parker buying a car stereo system that was too powerful to actually use in his vehicle.
Fanning and Fallon exited and Parker took the stage. He said the Internet was boring and that most networks don't allow for spontaneous meetings. Airtime, he hopes, will change that.
Olivia Munn was the first celebrity guest to appear on stage. She beat boxed with Snoop Dogg over Airtime for the audience.
Ed Helms of The Office and The Hangover also took a turn on Airtime. He told us after he attended the event because he saw it and thought the demo was cool.
